“Debunking third-world myths with the best stats you’ve ever seen.”

“We start the world”

With this enthusiastic phrase, Hans Rosling began an animation showing how the world has changed over time.

Hans Rosling made solid statistics fun. With playful enthusiasm, Hans Rosling gave us hope by showing how far humanity has progressed.  He turned statistics into stories that riveted us with their insights.  By showing how far human development has progressed his presentations offered a message of hope.   His data also offers guidance for where we need to focus our energies.

Rosling was a professor of global health at Sweden’s Karolinska Institute.  Rosling developed the software behind his dynamic visualizations and shared this through his nonprofit Gapminder.

Hans Rosling passed away in February 2017. His spirit continues to inspire the many people he touched with his passion, humor and commitment to making the world healthier and happier.

“In Hans Rosling’s hands, data sings. Global trends in health and economics come to vivid life. And the big picture of global development—with some surprisingly good news—snaps into sharp focus.” ~ TED Talks Bio
